Secluded in the eastern Himalayas between India and Tibet is the mountain kingdom of Bhutan, land of the peaceful dragon.
Padmasambhava introduced Buddhism here as he did in Tibet, and sites where he practiced are the traditional centers of pilgrimage. As a pilgrim group we will have access to these temples which are not ordinarily open to foreign visitors.
Our journey by road will lead us over high mountain passes, through dense coniferous forests and across unspoiled countryside to reach the remote temples of this extraordinary kingdom. Traveling to Paro, Thimpu, Punakha, Tongsa, and Jakar, we will also visit the mountain retreats of Taktsang and Tharpaling.
In the Bhumtang Valley, home of the great Dzogchen master Longchen Rabjam, there will be time for a three-day trek to explore this serene and rarely visited region.
