The Pilgrimages
India and Nepal: The Way of the Buddha
ItineraryLeaderReservations

This journey takes us to sites associated with the life of Shakyamuni Buddha who lived and taught in this area of Asia during the sixth century B.C. Exploring ancient monuments and monasteries, one comes to appreciate the power and peace of these pilgrimage centers, which throughout the past twenty-five centuries have drawn pilgrims from India, Tibet, Thailand, Japan, China, and Sri Lanka.

Travelling by train and bus through the heart of this ancient land will allow us time to integrate our experiences and come into balance with the rhythms of India. Beginning in Delhi, we will proceed to Bodh Gaya where the Buddha was enlightened, then continue on to Varanasi, Sarnath, Kushinagar and Lumbini, completing the three-week pilgrimage in Kathmandu.
